Advancement Via Individual Determination
Proven Achievement. Lifelong Advantage
What is AVID? AVID is not just another program…
|
In El Campo ISD, our AVID program serves 7th-12th grades and approximately 160 students are enrolled in AVID.
Each student is enrolled in an AVID elective class with a trained AVID elective teacher per grade level. In those classes, students participate in a structured tutorial process every Tuesday and Thursday. Trained tutors come from Wharton County Junior College to guide student tutorial groups. All AVID students attend at least one college visit per year to visit universities like Sam Houston State University, University of Houston and Texas State University to name a few. AVID elective classes are like a family at school, where students and teachers navigate through the difficulties of school and preparation for post-secondary success. Each school year ends with our Annual AVID Celebration, which is a special time of awards and reflection on the AVID year. |
